We have just published our full race calendar for next season.  The season kicks off on the 25th March with the first Spring Omnium meeting then finishes, 6 months and 17 races later, with the last Autumn Omnium on 23rd September.

For the many cycling fans weren’t fortunate enough to get their hands on Olympic tickets we have plenty of prestigious races to come and watch.  This year we are making the events even more spectator friendly.

Saturday road bike sessions this Autumn!

A series of four Saturday afternoon geared road bike sessions will be taking place this Autumn at Herne Hill Velodrome: 5th Nov | 19th Nov | 3rd Dec | 17th Dec. 1.30pm - 3pm.

Hosted by Crystal Palace Triathletes (CPT), these will be un-coached public sessions but will be supervised by CPT coaches. You have the opportunity to practise riding skills, with your own bike, in a safe traffic-free environment… on the brand new Herne Hill track.

*** Please check the weather forecast. Track cannot be ridden when wet. ***
*** If track too wet to ride, a coached run will take place instead***

Details as follows:
Time: 1.30pm to 3pm
Dates: 5th Nov | 19th Nov | 3rd Dec | 17th Dec
Cost: £6 for adults and £2 for children

Important! Session is un-coached and riders do so at own risk.  Children under 14 yrs need to be accompanied by an adult. Participants should be competent riders. Track riding etiquette will be explained to first timers to the track. This is a mixed ability / mixed age group session, therefore unsuitable for time trialling and sprint training. Dress appropriately: track mitts; lots of layers to put on afterwards. Sorry no fixies but single speed at discretion of CPT coach.

Herne Hill Velodrome Needs You! - Working Party Saturday 12th November

On Saturday 12th November there will be a working party at the track.  Herne Hill Velodrome is run entirely by volunteers, without whom we wouldn’t be able to operate.  So come down and get involved - the more people the merrier.  Work will start at 1pm and run until it’s dark.

This was originally due to take place this Saturday, but we moved it because of the bad weather forecast.

There are lots of different jobs that need doing including fixing bikes, erecting the new marquee, sewing grass seed, re-enforcing the inner fence and generally tidying up the grounds and sweeping away leaves.  So anyone, old or young, should find something to help out with.

Cross Season on the Way

|Herne Hill is re-opening on 3rd September, just in time for 3 track races to finish off the outdoor track racing season.

However, while the track racing is finishing for the season, Cyclo Cross racing is just getting going. We have 6 cyclo cross events at Herne Hill over the winter (see full listings here). The first event is our introductory Go Cross event. Perfect for trying Cyclo-Cross racing for the first time, or dusting off the cobwebs and getting ready for the cross season.

Summer Holiday Club 2011 - Update

Online Booking for our holiday club is now up and running. Click here to book

As you may know the track will be shutting for resurfacing on the 18th July for 6 weeks.  This will unfortunately mean we are unable to run the holiday club at the track (the mountain biking course will also be shut).

Instead we will be running several holiday club sessions at Ruskin Park (about 1 mile from the track). We will set up a 250m grass track so we can still do all the usual races and games! The majority of these sessions will be on mountain bikes, though there will be some chances to try out a track bike on the grass.
