Herne Hill Velodrome Does Rollapaluza
As the season draws to a close (only about a month left now) we decided to have a end of season party with Rollapaluza.
It’s at the Prince Regent pub just down the road from the Velodrome (opposite Brockwell Park Lido). Entrance is £5.
Unfortunately, being in a pub, the event is for 18+ only.
Qualifying starts from 7pm, with finals commencing from around 9pm. So come along, have a spin and toast the impending cold months.
Calendar Corrections
A few corrections to the late season calendar:
- Saturday finale meeting stats at 2pm. Guest riders may enter (£5.00 on the line) but they are not allowed to take any price money
- Wednesday 9th September there is no cross as advertised on some other sites.
- Monday evening race training, and Thursday night derny training will continue until the end of September, but will start earlier at 6pm due to the diminishing
light
Human Power Experiment for BBC1 01.08.09
Are you a keen and frequent cyclist? Would you like to take part in a pioneering “human power” experiment for BBC1?
Dragonfly TV is looking for fit cyclists with their own road racing bikes to take part in a novel experiment which attempts to convert human pedal power into electricity. The event will be filmed for inclusion in an exciting new science documentary to be broadcast on BBC1 this autumn.
The experiment will take place on the afternoon of Saturday 1st August, 2009 at Herne Hill Velodrome.
Those involved will be asked to pedal in short bursts at a range of speeds to try and produce enough electricity to power a number of common household appliances.
If you’re interested and would like to find out more, please call Emma Hughes on 0207 033 3198 or email her at pedalpower@dragonfly.tv You will be asked to complete a simple medical questionnaire to confirm your fitness to participate.
