Spring and Autumn omniums
The Herne Hill Promoters Association have been running these successful events for a number of years now, and they have become the traditional season opener and closers. Now the Omnium is an Olympic discipline people have preconceptions of what these event entail. An omnium can be a mixture of any number of events, and Herne Hill's omniums are generally kept nice and simple.
The Spring and Autumn omniums generally consist of a scratch race, points race, devil and a dash (short scratch) with a le-mans style start dash for youth riders. There won't be any individual time trial events. The rider who scores the best in all events on the day is the overall winner of the omnium. There is then a separate 20k scratch race at the end of the programme which does not count towards the omnium.
There are categories for youth U12, youth U16, senior B and senior A. All races start at 12.30pm.
