Most events are free to watch at Herne Hill Velodrome: come on down and enjoy!
Racing is integral to life at HHV and we host a huge number and variety of events each year. Whether you’re pinning on a number or simply want to pop down and watch some exciting racing with a drink, come and get involved.
We have regular racing every Wednesday, and most Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays April to September, with Jan’s Cafe serving a range of food and drink, including local craft beers from Bianca Road Brew Co and Volcano Coffee.

Our biggest track event of the year where stars from around the world go head to head with the best british and local talent at our historic olympic velodrome

Races take place every Wednesday from 15 April to 23 September, featuring top track racing talent, going head-to-head across multiple race disciplines, with riders competing to gain points in pursuit of becoming overall winner of this League.

Racing

An accessible and competitive series of race events that take place between April and September every year.
It caters for riders of all levels of fitness and experience, with three ability-based categories and a race programme that includes a varied array of track races; from short, sharp sprint events through to longer bunch races.

Riders are split into 3 ability based Open categories, with enjoyable, inclusive and competitive racing for women aged 30+ and everyone aged 40+. The League serves as a great test for established racers, but also aims to help introduce new riders into racing as part of our track pathway.

Taking place on Saturday evenings from May - September featuring the Herne Hill Velodrome Sprint League and a team pursuit league. Speed League provides accesible, grass roots competition for newer riders wanting to get into racing or try out sprinting for the first time as well as a chance for more experienced riders to hone their tactics ahead of bigger goals

Our Road Bike Crit League will held on our unique and technical circuit with pacy racing for all ages and abilities.
With twists and turns galore, expect fast, close quarters racing and plenty of action.

Get ready for fast and furious off-road action as Short Track Showdown lands at Herne Hill Velodrome! This is short-course mountain bike racing at its most exciting: a series of rapid-fire time trials over a tight, technical (ish) loop featuring everything from drop-offs and ramps to steep climbs and log rumbles.

Summercross races are about fun and encouraging riders new to CX to have a go, so the race format is simple with courses that are less technical than in the autumn leagues. They can be ridden on cyclocross, gravel or mountain bikes. The races are straightforward, ‘one bike’ races, meaning there are no pits, spare bikes or formal grids.

Cyclo-cross racing for all ages and categories with seasonal fancy dress encouraged and rewarded. Expect spooktacular features to challenge your riding and to push your racing til your legs are on fire: riders will race through our pumpkin patch, foggy forest and hair-raising hurdles.
