Track League
Races take place every Wednesday from 15 April to 23 September, featuring top track racing talent, going head-to-head across multiple race disciplines, with riders competing to gain points in pursuit of becoming overall winner of this League.
Join us on Wednesday evenings to race or spectate and become part of this legendary local league.
Throughout the series we’ll vary the programmes, with experienced racers, as well as newer riders of all ages getting their first taste of the racing experience. Track League is proud to have played a part in the development of current National, European and World Champions, with a long history at Herne Hill and now a firm tradition, we can’t wait to see the 2026 Track League story unfold.
Jan’s Cafe is open throughout with hot and cold drinks, including local craft beer and Volcano coffee, snacks and hot food.
Racing is free to watchat Herne Hill Velodrome and for spectators there’s no need to book in advance. Join us this summer at the track to enjoy some top notch live racing!

Local cycling club Redmon CC have generously donated the prize money for the best riders overall in the youth track league. The funds come from the Pete Reynolds Legacy which was established to help support grass roots cycling and young riders.
Pete was a keen club cyclist for many years. In later years he was an official CTT Timekeeper, volunteering at open events the Redmon CC’s Thursday Evening Ten Mile Time Trials. He was one of those faces who was always there. Pete died a few years ago and very generously left the club some money in his will. The club thought it appropriate that some of his legacy should be used to sponsor an event an the Herne Hill Velodrome. We’re grateful for the support, and for all of the many dedicated volunteers, like Pete, that make race events possible.
YOUTH RACING - EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
At Herne Hill we are passionate about getting kids into racing and this is the perfect place to start. For many young riders, track league is their first experience of competitive racing. It’s the perfect progression for those who have regularly been coming to our Intermediate Training sessions and are looking to make their first step into racing. Riders who started here at Track League have gone on to be National, European and even World Champions. We welcome all, from those who are racing for the very first time, to those who have been racing for years.

Our youth racing is split into two age-based categories:
YOUTH 1 (RANKED)
U16 and U14 riders who are experienced racers but not yet ready to move into senior racing categories.
U12 riders who want to challenge themselves further. For example, riders that consistently win in Youth 2 races should move up to Youth 1.
YOUTH 2 (UNRANKED)
U16 and U14 riders who are new to racing or in their first season of racing
U12 riders who feel this category provides enough of a challenge
U10 riders

Schedule
All youth racing is from 6pm to 7pm, with Youth 2 racing usually first.Sign-on is from 5.30pm and we recommend getting there by 5.45pm at the latest, especially if it’s your first time.
Entry + Costs
Each night’s racing costs £6.60 and entries open 10 days before each round, and close at 4.30pm on the day of racing.In order to avoid any extra admin for staff, it is now possible to change/move your entry until 3pm on the day. Refunds or swaps are not guaranteed after this point.
If you are entering for the first time, please enter online as we cannot guarantee that you will be able to enter on the day due to the way we issue racing numbers.
Senior racing - everything you need to know
Track League is a real staple of the British track racing scene. For many riders, Track League is their first experience of competitive racing. It’s the perfect progression for those who have regularly been coming to our training sessions and are looking to make their first step into racing. Thanks to having multiple ability categories we are able to cater for the most established racers and our League is proud to have played a part in the development of current National, European and World Champions.
Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome
All senior racers must be a Special Friend of Herne Hill Velodrome which costs £35 per year: your membership includes one free race entry for Track League 2026. If you are an U18-rider racing in senior category racing please contact us to access entry to senior categories

Our senior racing at track league is split into three ability-based Open categories.
A category – Fast racing for our top riders who have been training hard and want a tough work out.
B category – Medium speed racing for local-level racers.
C category – More entry level racing for new, younger, older or less fit racers.
Women - Four events through the season will have a separate category for women racers.
We ask that racers select the category which is most appropriate for them, however we reserve the right to change a rider’s category if we deem it appropriate to do so. If the entries for your chosen category are full on any given night, please do not enter another category.
We allow riders to move up (or down) to another category during the season.
To know if it’s appropriate to move up to the category above, we recommend using the following criteria: In order to move up a category, riders will need to have won and frequently scored top 3 positions in a variety of races, over a number of weeks, using a range of tactics (eg. Scoring from bunch sprint / Scoring from a breakaway / Scoring from a solo attack) before they are ready to move up. Particularly from the Cs to the Bs
The senior B and C category is not open to Elite or 1st cat riders. The senior C category is not open to youth/junior riders.

British Cycling Membership + Race Licences
All riders must have a valid race licence in order to race. This can either be a full, provisional or day race licence provided by British Cycling. For more information take a look at the British Cycling membership info pages - a race licence costs £40 per year in addition to a membership package.
Day licences cost an additional £5 (provisional licence holders) or £10 (non-members) and can be added to your entry when you order.
Race Accreditation
All riders racing in senior categories must have an HHV Race Accreditation. We do not accept accreditations from other velodromes for this league.Session experience
We ask that all riders either have previous experience of track racing or have been attending our Intermediate Training or Race Training sessions before and after they gain their race accreditation.Race Training sessions on Monday nights are the best place to learn the tactics, and most importantly, safety points, for each type of track race. We tailor the session to practice what’s coming up at track league each week from April-September, so you’ll always be able to practice the races coming up.

Your own bike
All racers need to have their own bike or a season-hire bike. -
All senior racing is from 7pm - 9.15pm

VOLUNTEERING AT TRACK LEAGUE
Track League is uniquely run by its racers and we need each rider to give up 1 out of 24 nights racing to help with sign-on, judging etc.
All racers who are eligible for a prize must complete their night of volunteering in order to claim their prize at the end of the League.
We need some volunteers from 5.15pm for youth racing, with some additional spots from 6.15pm.
