The board of trustees

  • Tim McInnes

    Chair

I’ve been a local resident for most of my life, and even though I grew up overlooking the Velodrome and now live not more than a mile away from the track, I was a latecomer to cycling. I climbed my first mountain in 2016 and a year and 20,000km later I became a trustee of Herne Hill Velodrome. In 2019 I was elected the Charity’s Chair.

  • Padraic O’Shea

    Treasurer

I only started cycling in 2006 and while more of a road cyclist I have loved the Velodrome from my first visit in 2014 and have been a regular visitor since. As a Chartered Accountant by training I have been a Finance Director in various industries for nearly 20 years.

  • Lois Ireson

    Windrush Triathlon Club

  • Christine O’Connell

I grew up surrounded by bikes but only caught the cycling bug properly in 2012. I haven’t looked back since, and spend most weekends on the road or the trails.

  • Paul Merrey

I’ve been a keen cyclist all my life, racing for Swansea Wheelers in my teens and more recently riding from John O’Groats to Lands End and enjoying and numerous trips to the Alps and Pyrenees.

I became a local resident in 2016 and joined the Trust to help the transition from the Save The Velodrome campaign to the trading operation it is today.

  • Richard Williams

I raced at HH in the 70s and 80s and rode competitively in Europe living on the Dutch/German border in the late 1980s. I am, and always will be a passionate cyclist.

I was appointed as British Cycling’s trustee in 2009. I am a chartered surveyor and was principally involved in agreeing new lease terms with the freeholders, and overseeing the design, procurement and delivery of the new pavilion. I continue to focus on landlord and tenant related matters.

  • Katie Brunt

I've been commuting by bike in London for 15 years, getting into road cycling first, then got into track after attending a taster session in 2018. Nowadays, I race in the Women's and Vets' Leagues for Brixton CC, and can be found there most Saturdays enjoying a coffee and a natter, whilst my son attends the Frog bike sessions; in the summer it's practically my back garden.

I love the community at HHV and want to help spread the word far and wide, supporting with the events calendar, and protecting the wonderful grass-roots nature of the place. I've worked in corporate event planning for 20 years.

  • Alex Base

I’ve been cycling at Herne Hill since 1988, after being dragged there by my then PE Teacher, who can still be seen coaching at the velodrome today. I raced in the London Youth Games back then, and I do my best to race in VETs league now. I’m pretty present all year round, either trying to hold onto teenage weeks on a Monday nights race training or enjoying a slightly more leisurely mid-week VETs session. Both my boys have honed their mountain bike and track skills at Herne Hill’s muddy tracks and velodrome.

I’m passionate about enabling more and more people to enjoy everything Herne Hill has to offer and build on the amazing work that has been done since 2012 to make Herne Hill as accessible and as inclusive as possible. I have over 25 years experience as an advisor, teacher and coach in the corporate sustainability space.
