HHV Women’s Newsletter – September

Women’s Cyclocrosss | Condor Women’s League 2025 | Our trails fundraiser | Get strong at HHV | Black History Month event | This Autumn/Winter for HHV Women | Other sessions and events

Hey HHVW community,

We’re winding down an incredible season of racing here at Herne Hill, congratulations to everyone that took part – visit our Condor Women’s League feature below for some highlights – and thank you to all our volunteers and spectators for bringing the vibes.

I must admit I’m looking forward to these quieter months but I’ll make sure we have plenty on offer to keep you riding and connecting in the darker months, some of which is hinted at below but I’d also love your ideas.

I hope you’ve had a fabulous summer and won’t be hanging up your bike for the year, we certainly won’t!

With warmth

Megan

Women’s Cyclocross – sessions

The final pay what you can Women’s Cyclocross session in next Wednesday 1st October, 6:30-8pm –  BOOK NOW!

We are likely to extend the sessions a few more weeks due to popular demand but these will run at our normal rates – stay tuned.

You can also join our adult cyclocross sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Gravel Club on Fridays – explore them here.

Try racing!

If you’ve done any cyclocross sessions, I can’t encourage you enough to give racing a go.

The London and South East Cyclocross League has kicked off and there are plenty of events to try between now and February. You don’t need to be ‘trained’ or uber skilled at mounting and dismounting, there is so much joy to be had and knowledge to be learnt from just turning up and giving it a go. The folk at the league are super friendly and are always available to answer any questions.

Condor Women’s League 2025

We rounded off another year of Condor Women’s League and what a year it was. We were beyond proud to see entries at such high numbers including so many incredible race debuts – thank you to all the riders and volunteers for making it as joyful as ever.

Feedback

As always, we’d love to hear from you about how 2025 was for you (as a racer, spectator, volunteer, non-involved person)!

Please send any thoughts directly to me, here are some prompts if useful:

  • What did you most enjoy about Women’s League?

  • What would you like to see more of in 2026?

  • Do you have a proudest moment?

  • How were you involved this year? How would you like to be involved next year?

Black History Month Cycling Celebrations

Join us on Saturday 11th September for our Black History Month Cycling Celebration, 12–4pm.

Sessions, market + bike checks

We have pay what you can sessions for kids, track and off-road as well as free bike checks and a market of Black-owned businesses and organisations.

Our cafe will be open to keep you cosy and fed and there should be a lovely buzz around the place. Come and ride with other black cyclists and spread the word.

We’re giving our trails a face lift!

Smoother gravel, technical and accessible features, more trees and a generally tidier riding area. Work is underway but we still need some support to get us all the way. Read more about our plans and consider making a donation today.

Get strong at HHV

Did you know we have Yoga, Pilates and Strength sessions throughout the week at Herne Hill?

This Autumn & Winter with HHV Women

Now things have quietened down I have time to think of nice plans to keep us cosy during the colder months. You better believe our Women’s Track Sundays will be as strong as ever but I’ll try and make sure we have an off-road offering as well.

Other stuff on my radar are our Winter Warmer event series, a Women’s Christmas social and workshops (mechanics anyone?).

Let me know if you have anything you’d like to see more of here, or stay tuned for announcements on any of the above.
