ONES TO WATCH
Alex Volstad ๐จ๐ฆ
Alex is a Canadian cyclist racing on the road with EF Education-Oatly. She learned how to ride the track at 10 years old on the 400m outdoor concrete track in Calgary, and is really stoked to be back racing on a similar track here in Herne Hill! She loves a hectic sprint finish and is looking forward to getting the legs ready for the Commonwealth Games the following week in Glasgow.

ACADEMICS
Aimee Dickson ๐ฎ๐ช
Hi, I'm Aimee, an U23 Irish track sprinter. I was a 3x national junior champion and 2x record holder. At elite nationals I have won silver 2 years in a row and am targeting the win this year. At SLGP last year I achieved my first UCI podium with third in the sprint. My main highlights this year have been making the longlist to represent Northern Ireland at the commonwealth games, and at the BUCS (university) championships where I set a team sprint record and finished third in the individual sprint.
I am a sports science student at Loughborough university, recently started racing for Loughborough Lightning and can't wait for South London, it's my favourite race of the year!
Tim Ericksson ๐ธ๐ช
I'm a Swedish sprinter who started cycling this seriously about 2 years ago when I studied in the UK.
I'm aiming high to represent Sweden at the larger races of the year (like SLGP ๐ฎโ๐จ) and long term goal is of course the Olympics.
I'm an aero nerd, and will start my PhD in October, about cycling aerodynamics in particular. Lavreysen needs to watch out.
As I haven't had proper access to a velodrome for my whole "career", I've done most of my training without a velodrome. I've replaced this with efforts behind a car, massive tailwinds, all while riding on long straight roads on the lone island I live on. I have a little mini series on instagram called track cycling with no track that sums it up!
Cai Davies ๐ฌ๐ง
I raced Herne Hill track league around the COVID years when it was super competitive and was honoured to receive the prestigious Red Combativity Socks;) Focus more on crits and road now, but edging into track. I like to be aggressive.
I'm a PhD student at the University of Leicester investigating athletes hearts and atrial fibrillation.
UK RIDERS
Sarah Johnson ๐ฌ๐ง
Iโve ridden a bike since I was 4yrs old and itโs now a lot more than just a hobby! As a junior I won a few international titles and 3 British titles in track sprint. Iโm returning to Herne Hill for my favourite race of the season and canโt wait to return to the most amazing atmosphere and crowds!
Lewis Fletcher ๐ฌ๐ง
Lewis Fletcher, 19, I am going into my second season of track cycling after recovering from a brain injury. My first season went well, competing in international races in Valencia and Dublin, gaining valuable experience along the way. I also completed my first National Championships setting a 10.3 flying 200m. I have developed massively as a rider and am excited to keep progressing. Iโm looking forward to more racing and seeing what the future holds.
Katie-Anne Calton ๐ฌ๐ง
This will be my 3rd time at this event, itโs easily my favourite on the calendar. I won my first UCI2.2 race here last year and had some of my best races backed by such an amazing atmosphere.
I rode for VCL in 2022 so itโs always a joy to come back to race at Herne Hill.
Iโm known for my sharp sprint, and sometimes overly audacious attacks.
I hope to come back this year and give a good show, and hopefully return back to the podium

Returning to track racing this year after a year off. Aiming to be the fastest rider who has also changed a nappy that day. Still dining out on that time I beat Fred Wright in 2023.

Training accreditation will now occur fortnightly:

once a month alongside Skills on a Saturday at 12pm.
We will likely continue this way through the winter, with Tuesday moving to Thursday.
